The day laid out as a route: leave home, first stop, next stop, back home. Each service shows the pet, the owner, the address and how long it takes — with the drive time and distance to the next one in between.*

Three views of the same diary: a week timeline with running totals, a week grid for spotting gaps, and a month view with a dot per service so a busy Tuesday is obvious at a glance.

Times are estimated arrivals — "~9am", the way walkers actually book — with a duration that defaults from the service type and can be nudged per booking.

BOOKINGS

Group walks and repeats, handled

Walk several pets together and each owner still gets billed separately — no mental arithmetic at the end of the week. Set a booking to repeat weekly and it fills the diary for you.

Every booking carries its pets, their tags, the owners behind them and a note for the day. Tap through to the client, or open the drive in your maps app.

CLIENTS & PETS

Find them by the name you actually remember

Search "Noodle", not "Chen". The Clients tab flips between a Pets list and an Owners list, both searchable, both showing photos and tags like Nervous, Lead only or Good off lead.

A pet's page has the next service, their preferred time window, one-tap call, text and email for the owner, and — for when it goes wrong — the vet and the emergency contact side by side.

PRIVACY & SECURITY

Key safe codes, kept properly

Every client has a secure notes field for the things you'd never write in a group chat — back door codes, alarm codes, where the spare key lives. It's encrypted in the database, unlocked with Face ID, fingerprint or your device PIN, and hides itself again the moment you leave the screen.

Client names and addresses are encrypted at rest too. You can lock the whole app behind biometrics, export everything you've entered, and delete your account and its data outright — all from one screen.

MILEAGEPro

HMRC mileage, without the notebook

Barkerway estimates the day's driving from your home base, round your stops in your pickup order, out to a walk destination if you drove there, and home again. No GPS, no tracking, no battery drain.

Every leg is listed and every leg is editable — tap a figure and type the real one if you took the long way. Totals roll up per tax year with the 45p and 25p bands applied automatically.

Bills that write themselves

Barkerway keeps a Needs billing list of every client with unbilled services. Open one, tick the services, tweak a price if you agreed something different, add a note and raise the bill.

Each bill is numbered, dated and totalled, exports as a branded PDF, and gets marked received in one tap. The header keeps a running count of what's come in, what's outstanding and how many bills you've raised this tax year.

SET UP YOUR WAY

Your rates, your rounds, your rules

Define your own service types — solo walk, group walk, puppy visit, cat drop-in — each with a default price and duration, and override the price per client where you've agreed a rate. Change a price or retire a service type and bookings you've already done keep the price they had.

Build your own pet tags, save the vets you deal with, pin the walk destinations you drive to on a map, set your invoice prefix, numbering and payment terms, and put your home base in so mileage starts from the right doorstep.
