Who we are

Barkerway is a dog walking business management app built and operated by Matt Barker, trading as SkinttApps ("we", "us", "our"). Our contact email is [email protected].

This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What data we collect

We collect data in two categories:

Your account data

Your email address, used to create and identify your account.
Your name, if you provide it during sign-up or in your profile.

Business data you enter

Client names and home addresses (used to estimate travel distances between walks).
Dog names, breeds, and notes you add (e.g. vet details, key safe codes, health information).
Walk bookings, schedules, and service records.
Billing records, invoice amounts, and payment notes.
Mileage records derived from client addresses and your home postcode.

We do not collect your precise GPS location. Mileage estimates are calculated from addresses you enter, not from tracking your device.

Why we collect it and our legal basis

To provide the service — your account data and business data are necessary for the app to function. Legal basis: contract performance.
To improve the app — we may review anonymised, aggregated usage patterns (not your client data) to understand how features are used. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
To contact you about your account — e.g. security notices or significant changes to the service. Legal basis: contract performance / legitimate interests.

How your data is stored

All data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database platform. Data is stored within the European Economic Area (EEA). Supabase applies encryption at rest and in transit.

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

Client data you enter about others

When you use Barkerway, you enter personal data about your own clients (dog owners). You are the data controller for that information — we process it on your behalf as a data processor. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to hold that data under your own obligations as a small business.

How long we keep your data

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. Some anonymised aggregate statistics may be retained.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
Erasure — ask us to delete your account and all associated data.
Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Restriction — ask us to pause processing in certain circumstances.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Cookies

The Barkerway mobile app does not use cookies. This marketing website (barkerway.uk) uses no tracking cookies and no third-party analytics scripts. We do not use Google Analytics or any advertising pixels.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
